The holiday of Shavuot is arguably one of the most important holidays on the Jewish calendar. It's right up there with Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Passover. This is the day that we became G-d's Chosen People, chosen to be a light unto the nations. 

This is the day that G-d brought us to Mt. Sinai and chose us, a tiny nation, as the people to receive His most precious gift - The Ten Commandments and the Torah.

This year, Shavuot is celebrated beginning Tomorrow evening, Tuesday, June 11. We will be up all night studying Torah with classes for men & women led by The TED TALK. Stop by to prepare yourself mentally and emotionally for the receiving of the Torah.  Learning begins at 11:30 PM for men, women & boys.

Shavuot is connected to three great figures in our history: Moses who received the Torah on Shavuot; and King David and the Baal Shem Tov, founder of the Chassidic movement, who both passed away on Shavuot. 

The highlight of the holiday is the reading of the 10 Commandments 
this Wednesday, June 12, followed by a delicious lunch and dessert.  No background, affiliation, membership, or reservations are necessary. We simply want to celebrate the holiday with our extended family.

We strongly encourage you and your family and welcome you to be there for this most important event. Bring the kids, babies, everyone! Let's be there together much as we all gathered around Mt. Sinai 3,336 years ago.

Services will take place in the Chabad of Great Neck, and begin at  

9:30 AM with the reading of the Ten Commandments at approximately 10:30 AM. Following services, there will be a delicious dairy kiddush and ice cream party! We will have a second reading of the Ten Commandments at 1:30 PM. 

We are looking forward to greeting our Families from The Silverstein Hebrew Academy, Chabad Hebrew School & Cteen families & friends for the grand Shavuot party & ice cream making at 10:00 AM. 

Please note: The Yizkor Memorial Prayer is recited on the 2nd day of Shavuot, Thursday, June 13. Services begin at 9:30 AM and Yizkor at 11:00 AM.
